The Books of Life and Death

The purpose of this study is to understand the books that are referred to in scripture with very little detail and are only mentioned in passing by the prophets. We will answer the following questions.

  • What are these books?
  • Are the books relevant to our salvation?
  • What is the purpose of these unseen books?
  • Why are they never discussed?
  • What does it mean to be holy?
  • What part do angels, or watchers play with these books?
  • How is where we spend our eternity determined?

Our objective is to look at these books and understand their operation, significance, and how they affect us today and will impact us tomorrow.

To properly understand this subject we will first have to lay a foundation in the books of the law by showing a sampling of commands giving by YAH that we must follow.

Book of The Law

Elohim spoke all these words, saying, "I am YAH your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other elohims before me. (Exodus 20:1-3 RNWEB)

One of the first things YAH tells us is "we shall have no other Elohim's before him," the relationship is between him and us, not us, them, and him.

"You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (Exodus 20:4 RNWEB)
"Remember the day of Shabbat, TO KEEP IT HOLY. You shall labor six days, and do all your work, (Exodus 20:8-9 RNWEB)

What does it mean to keep it Holy? The operational guidelines are given in the scripture, and we need to make sure we don't start adding things to it that man may feel is right. Elohim defined what is holy for the Shabbat day, and specifically instructed us to do no menial work, or laborious [hard, heavy, difficult] tasks which are oppressive. Therefore, if we partake of laborious tasks that create oppression, we have profaned the Sabbath day. Nehemiah gave us a good example of this when he said, when I came into Yerushalayim, I saw the sons of Yisrael bringing in all sorts of burdens on the Shabbat day, treading wine, bringing in cheese, loading asses, etc... Which violated the Shabbat ordinance.

but the seventh day is a Shabbat to YAH your Elohim. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates; for in six days YAH made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore YAH blessed the day of Shabbat, and made it holy. (Exodus 20:10-11 RNWEB)

YAH stopped all his servile and laborious tasks and established a law that said he wanted us to rest and relax on this day, literally to take a breath.

"You shall not commit adultery. "You shall not steal. "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's." (Exodus 20:14-17 RNWEB)

We're reading these laws so will have a better understanding of what part the three books play now and in the future.

If you take your neighbor's garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down, for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious. (Exodus 22:26-27 RNWEB)

Elohim is giving us these laws because they protect us, they establish peace and order. Consequently, if a brother has something that belongs to us, we can take it up with YAH, he is telling us he will hear our cry.

"You shall not spread a false report. Don't join your hand with the wicked to be a malicious witness. You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; neither shall you testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice; (Exodus 23:1-2 RNWEB)"Keep far from a false charge, and don't kill the innocent and righteous: for I will not justify the wicked. (Exodus 23:7 RNWEB)

We are to keep far from a false matter, not be drawn to it, or associate with anyone that may be speaking false charges or slander. Why would we associate with someone committing evil in the eyes of YAH? By doing this, we become a party to it, and bear the guilt.

"You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds those who have sight and perverts the words of the righteous. "You shall not oppress an alien, for you know the heart of an alien, seeing you were aliens in the land of Egypt. (Exodus 23:8-9 RNWEB)"Be careful to do all things that I have said to you; and don't invoke the name of other elohims, neither let them be heard out of your mouth. (Exodus 23:13 RNWEB)

We are not to talk about pagan gods or participate in their days of worship. They are not to be acknowledged and the idea we can partake of a holiday that the nations celebrate, like Christmas, Easter, and Sunday worship, while at the same time saying were disassociating ourselves from their original intent is just foolish.

YAH spoke to Moshe and to Aharon, saying to them, "Speak to the children of Yisra'el, saying, 'These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth. (Leviticus 11:1-2 RNWEB)

Elohim has established a dietary code, he told us what animals we can and cannot eat.

"'You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother's wife: it is your brother's nakedness. "'You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter. You shall not take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; they are near kinswomen: it is wickedness. "'You shall not take a wife to her sister, to be a rival, to uncover her nakedness, while her sister is yet alive. "'You shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is impure by her uncleanness. (Leviticus 18:16-19 RNWEB)

One of the things that's often overlooked by married men is refraining from going into their wives during their cycle, this is an abomination to YAH.

"'You shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, and defile yourself with her. (Leviticus 18:20 RNWEB)

Adultery is forbidden under law.

"'You shall not lie with a man, as with a woman. That is detestible. (Leviticus 18:22 RNWEB)

Homosexuality and bisexuality is forbidden under law.

"'You shall not lie with any animal to defile yourself with it; neither shall any woman give herself to an animal, to lie down with it: it is a perversion. (Leviticus 18:23 RNWEB)

Bestiality is forbidden.

"'You shall not go up and down as a slanderer among your people; neither shall you stand against the life of your neighbor. I am YAH. (Leviticus 19:16 RNWEB)

No slander, gossip, or backbiting which sows discord among the brethren and are considered evil. A gossip talks about the private lives of other people and casually shares uncorroborated reports about them. This is a friendly term for slander which is speaking maliciously about another damaging their reputation.

"'You shall not eat any meat with the blood still in it; neither shall you use enchantments, nor practice sorcery. (Leviticus 19:26 RNWEB)

We cannot eat blood, this means all meats must be well cooked, for example a rare hamburger is dripping with blood, and it must be cooked out. The drinking of blood is ceremonially associated with many forms of sorcery and witchcraft.

He said to Moshe, "Come up to YAH, you, and Aharon, Nadav, and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Yisra'el; and worship from a distance. Moshe alone shall come near to YAH, but they shall not come near, neither shall the people go up with him." Moshe came and told the people all the words of YAH, and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, "All the words which YAH has spoken will we do." Moshe wrote all the words of YAH, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Yisra'el. He sent young men of the children of Yisra'el, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to YAH. Moshe took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. HE TOOK THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT AND READ IT IN THE HEARING OF THE PEOPLE, AND THEY SAID, "ALL THAT YAH HAS SPOKEN WILL WE DO, AND BE OBEDIENT." (Exodus 24:1-7 RNWEB)

The book of the law has about 450 laws we are commanded to uphold, YAH gave us a symbol to memorialize the laws called the decalogue, or ten commandments. The ten commandments are a summarization of theses laws.

Moshe took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, "Look, this is the blood of the covenant, which YAH has made with you concerning all these words." (Exodus 24:8 RNWEB)

The books of the covenant are called the Torah, which means instructions and is composed of the first five books of the bible.

if you shall obey the voice of YAH your Elohim, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this scroll of the Torah; if you turn to YAH your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your soul. For this commandment which I command you this day, it is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it. Behold, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil; IN THAT I COMMAND YOU THIS DAY TO LOVE YAH YOUR ELOHIM, TO WALK IN HIS WAYS, AND TO KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS AND HIS STATUTES AND HIS ORDINANCES, THAT YOU MAY LIVE AND MULTIPLY, AND THAT YAH YOUR ELOHIM MAY BLESS YOU IN THE LAND WHERE YOU GO IN TO POSSESS IT. But if your heart turn away, and you will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other elohims, and serve them; I denounce to you this day, that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land, where you pass over the Yarden to go in to possess it. I CALL HEAVEN AND EARTH TO WITNESS AGAINST YOU THIS DAY, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed; (Deuteronomy 30:10-19 RNWEB)

Things to remember, the book of the law and record.

To love YAH your Elohim, to obey his voice, and to cleave to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days; that you may dwell in the land which YAH swore to your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya'akov, to give them. (Deuteronomy 30:20 RNWEB)It happened, when Moshe had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, that Moshe commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of YAH, saying, TAKE THIS SCROLL OF THE TORAH, AND PUT IT BY THE SIDE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT OF YAH YOUR ELOHIM, THAT IT MAY BE THERE FOR A WITNESS AGAINST YOU. (Deuteronomy 31:24-26 RNWEB)

Witness:

  1. One who can give a first-hand account of something seen, heard or experienced; One who furnishes evidence.
  2. Something that serves as evidence, a sign.
  3. Someone who is called on to testify before a court; One asked to be present at a transaction so as to be able to testify to its having taken place.

The book of the covenant was placed in the Ark to be a witness against Yisrael.

For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against YAH; and how much more after my death? Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them. For I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will happen to you in the latter days; because you will do that which is evil in the sight of YAH, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands. (Deuteronomy 31:27-29 RNWEB)

Things to remember, record, book and witness.

Now, Yisra'el, what does YAH your Elohim require of you, but to fear YAH your Elohim, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve YAH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul, to keep the commandments of YAH, and his statutes, which I command you this day for your good? (Deuteronomy 10:12-13 RNWEB)

The laws of YAH were given for a reason, they dictate a code of conduct which was given so we can have peaceable lives with order and stability.

Only take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moshe the servant of YAH commanded you, to love YAH your Elohim, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. (Joshua 22:5 RNWEB)
I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matthew 12:36-37 RNWEB)

This is one of the reasons YAH told us we should not go up and down as a tail bearer, we will have to give account for every word, we have spoken. We shouldn't be maliciously or intentionally trying to slander anyone. We can't spread rumors, or talk about other peoples private lives, things that are none of our business.

Elohim has spoken once; twice I have heard this, that power belongs to Elohim. Also to you, Master, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work. (Psalms 62:11-12 RNWEB)

It's apparent Elohim has something to measure our works by, and he will judge us for those works based on this measurement system.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? I, YAH, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:9-10 RNWEB)

YAH searches the mind to give every man according to his ways, the fruit of his works.

who show loving kindness to thousands, and recompense the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them; the great, the mighty Elohim, YAH of Armies is his name; great in counsel, and mighty in work; WHOSE EYES ARE OPEN ON ALL THE WAYS OF THE SONS OF MEN, TO GIVE EVERYONE ACCORDING TO HIS WAYS, AND ACCORDING TO THE FRUIT OF HIS DOINGS: (Jeremiah 32:18-19 RNWEB)
Now is the end on you, and I will send my anger on you, and will judge you according to your ways; and I will bring on you all your abominations. (Ezekiel 7:3 RNWEB)

We see that not all lawlessness has the same level of judgement, if it did everyone would receive the same punishment. For example, the scripture says if a thief is caught, he must repay two fold, but if a man and woman commit adultery, they are put to death. This is two different punishments, for two different sins.

NOW WILL I SHORTLY POUR OUT MY WRATH ON YOU, AND ACCOMPLISH MY ANGER AGAINST YOU, AND WILL JUDGE YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR WAYS; and I will bring on you all your abominations. My eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will bring on you according to your ways; and your abominations shall be in the midst of you; and you shall know that I, YAH, do strike. (Ezekiel 7:8-9 RNWEB)
Moreover Elihu answered, "Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge. For the ear tries [tests] words, as the palate tastes food. (Job 34:1-3 RNWEB)

The ear tests words, we can discern if someone is insecure, arrogant, confident, foolish etc... by their words. If were receiving the truth we should have a level of humility, love, and appreciation. Most covenant followers come into the knowledge of YAH's truth, however they do not receive his truth. The scripture describes it this way, "ever learning but not able to come into the knowledge of truth."

Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good. For Job has said, 'I am righteous, Elohim has taken away my right: Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.' What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water, Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men? (Job 34:4-8 RNWEB)

We need to understand why Elohim let Job go through all these afflictions. Job was righteous in the sense that he always looked for justice, and sought the face of Elohim, however Job was a man which was also proud and somewhat arrogant, which was his problem. To know the true character of any man we need to watch him under pressure to see how he reacts and what work's come from his hand. Notice Job was keeping company with workers of iniquity, we know light cannot dwell with darkness and two cannot walk together unless they agree, so apparently Job had something in common with the company he was keeping.

For he has said, 'It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with Elohim.' "Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from Elohim, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. Yes surely, Elohim will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice. Who gave him a charge over the earth? or who has appointed him over the whole world? If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath, all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust. (Job 34:9-15 RNWEB)

We see this taking place in Genesis the sixth chapter, YAH gathered all his breath (nesh-aw-maw - wind, angry or vital breath), the breath of life, he did this by flooding the earth with water and life was taken from everyone except Noah and his family.

"If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words. Shall even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?-- Who says to a king, 'Vile!' or to nobles, 'Wicked!'? Who doesn't respect the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands. In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand. "FOR HIS EYES ARE ON THE WAYS OF A MAN. HE SEES ALL HIS GOINGS. (Job 34:16-21 RNWEB)

The eyes of YAH are on the ways and words of mankind, we also read this in Jeremiah, everything we do and say is being recorded.

There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. For he doesn't need to consider a man further, that he should go before Elohim in judgment. He breaks in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place. Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed. He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others; because they turned aside from following him, and wouldn't pay attention to any of his ways, so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted. When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Alike whether to a nation, or to a man, that the elohimless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people. "For has any said to Elohim, 'I am guilty, but I will not offend any more. Teach me that which I don't see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more'? (Job 34:22-32 RNWEB)

His eyes are on the ways of man, watching everything.

You, son of man, tell the house of Yisra'el: Thus you speak, saying, Our transgressions and our sins are on us, and we pine away in them; how then can we live? Tell them, As I live, says YAH Elohim, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn you, turn you from your evil ways; for why will you die, house of Yisra'el? (Ezekiel 33:10-11 RNWEB)
Though OUR INIQUITIES TESTIFY AGAINST US, work you for your name's sake, YAH; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you. (Jeremiah 14:7 RNWEB)

Remember the following highlights, book of the law, record, witness, and testify, which means give evidence as a witness.

Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things. We know that the judgment of Elohim is according to truth against those who practice such things. Do you think this, O man who judges those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of Elohim? Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of Elohim leads you to repentance? But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of Elohim; WHO "WILL PAY BACK TO EVERYONE ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS:" (Romans 2:1-6 RNWEB)

Shaul is reciting the prophets in this verse when he says YAH will pay back everyone according to their works or deeds, it does not say anything about their faith or heart. If our heart is right then it will show in our works.

The Book of Remembrance

I saw in the visions of my head on my bed, and behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from the sky. (Daniel 4:13 RNWEB)

The scripture says the eyes of YAH are on all mankind, he does this with angels, some are assigned as watchers and one is appointed to every human.

He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the animals get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches. Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth: let his heart be changed from man's, and let an animal's heart be given to him; and let seven times pass over him. THE SENTENCE IS BY THE DECREE OF THE WATCHERS, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Elyon rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whoever he will, and sets up over it the lowest of men. (Daniel 4:14-17 RNWEB)
Whereas THE KING SAW A WATCHER and a holy one coming down from the sky, and saying, Hew down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of the roots of it in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him; (Daniel 4:23 RNWEB)

A watcher is an angel with the specific task of documenting everything that we say and do. They will be the ones that hold the record that will bear witness either for, or against us when we are being judged.

It shall happen that, like as I have watched over them to pluck up and to break down and to overthrow and to destroy and to afflict, SO WILL I WATCH OVER THEM TO BUILD AND TO PLANT, SAYS YAH. (Jeremiah 31:28 RNWEB)Behold, I WATCH OVER THEM FOR EVIL, AND NOT FOR GOOD; and all the men of Yehudah who are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them. (Jeremiah 44:27 RNWEB)

The watchers are overseers of YAH's flock, they document everything that you do, and if you find favor in their eyes they may help you when necessary and listen to your petition. This is why Solomon said, anything we vow to Elohim we must pay, do not say to the angels it was a mistake. Our petition was to Elohim, however an angel, one of the watchers, documented it.

To YAH our Elohim belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have rebelled against him; neither have we obeyed the voice of YAH our Elohim, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. Yes, all Yisra'el have transgressed your law, even turning aside, that they should not obey your voice: therefore has the curse been poured out on us, and the oath that is written in the Torah of Moshe the servant of Elohim; for we have sinned against him. He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil; for under the whole sky has not been done as has been done on Yerushalayim. As it is written in the Torah of Moshe, all this evil is come on us: yet have we not entreated the favor of YAH our Elohim, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in your truth. Therefore has YAH watched over the evil, and brought it on us; for YAH our Elohim is righteous in all his works which he does, and we have not obeyed his voice. (Daniel 9:9-14 RNWEB)
so man lies down and doesn't rise. Until the heavens are no more, they shall not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep. "Oh that you would hide me in grave, that you would keep me secret, until your wrath is past, that you would appoint me a set time, AND REMEMBER ME! (Job 14:12-13 RNWEB)

So far we have mentioned several highlights, the book of the law, witness, testify, and now we need to add remember.

If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my warfare would I wait, until my release should come. (Job 14:14 RNWEB)
Even now, behold, my WITNESS IS IN HEAVEN and MY RECORD IS ON HIGH. . (Job 16:19 RNWEB)

It's the angels, more specifically the watchers who are witnessing and recording mans life.

When I would heal Yisra'el, then the iniquity of Efrayim is uncovered, also the wickedness of Shomron; for they commit falsehood, and the thief enters in, and the gang of robbers ravages outside. They don't consider in their hearts THAT I REMEMBER ALL THEIR WICKEDNESS. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before my face. (Hosea 7:1-2 RNWEB)

The best way to remember something is to write it down, Job said "if you will remember me YAH," there was a book of the law that was placed in the ark of the covenant to be a witness against Yisrael, today everyone with a bible carries that same witness, Jeremiah said "our iniquities testify against us."

But now, YAH, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand. Don't be furious, YAH, neither remember iniquity forever: see, look, we beg you, we are all your people. (Isaiah 64:8-9 RNWEB)
You number my wanderings. You put my tears into your bottle. AREN'T THEY IN YOUR BOOK? (Psalms 56:8 RNWEB)

David is telling us that YAH documented all his wanderings, and put them in his book. He is not talking about the book of the law, it has already been sealed and placed within the ark to be a witness against the people. Consequently, this is talking about another book of interest.

Then those who feared YAH spoke one with another; and YAH listened, and heard, and a BOOK OF REMEMBERENCE WAS WRITTEN before him, for those who feared YAH, and who honored his name. (Malachi 3:16 RNWEB)

The second book is the book of remembrance. The purpose of this book is to document mans life, Job told us that his record is in heaven, in the book. David was aware of the book, he said YAH documents all my wanderings and writes them in his book. The prophets say, remember not our iniquities forever father. It's the watchers that are writing in this book, that is what they do, they count every word and every step that we make.

We built a foundation in the law in the beginning of the study to show what we can and cannot do. Moshe read the book of the law to the people and after hearing it, they agreed to do all that was written, then the book was placed in the ark of the covenant to be an eyewitness against them. Now according to the law a conviction must come by two or more witnesses, we have the book of the law which is the first witness and Jeremiah told us are iniquities would testify against us, which is the second witness, these are documented for judgment in the book of remembrance.

Every Priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins, but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of Elohim; from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet. For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, "This is the covenant that I will make with them: 'After those days,' says YAH, 'I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;'" then he says, "I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SINS AND THEIR INIQUITIES NO MORE." (Hebrews 10:11-17 RNWEB)

There is a book with everything we have done documented in it, and were being told that there is a process where Elohim will remember our sins no more, we need to understand what process was put in place to have these things blotted out.

Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. (Hebrews 10:18 RNWEB)
"Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of YAH, (Acts 3:19 RNWEB)

First we need to repent, admit we did something wrong, and then change direction, don't follow on the same path of iniquity again. To turn again or convert is achieved by purification, baptism in the name of Yahshua the Anointed. Then our trespasses can be blotted out, but blotted out of what? Will they be blotted out of the book of the law? No, they will be blotted out of the book of remembrance where they are documented. We want to make sure that we take the steps to have our iniquity blotted out before the times of refreshing, we don't want to stand in judgment with a full book of abominations and trespasses against Elohim.

But now thus says YAH who created you, Ya'akov, and he who formed you, Yisra'el: "Don't be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you. For I am YAH your Elohim, the Holy One of Yisra'el, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Kush and Seva in your place. Since you have been precious and honored in my sight, and I have loved you; therefore I will give people in your place, and nations instead of your life. Don't be afraid; for I am with you. I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west. I will tell the north, 'Give them up!' and tell the south, 'Don't hold them back! Bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth-- everyone who is called by my name, and whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, yes, whom I have made.'" Bring out the blind people who have eyes, and the deaf who have ears. Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the peoples be assembled. Who among them can declare this, and show us former things? Let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified; or let them hear, and say, "That is true." (Isaiah 43:1-9 RNWEB)

Isaiah 43:9 deals with the sons of Yisrael, they are the only ones that wrestled, talked, and received the covenant of Elohim. They also received the instructions to bear the covenant and be the law givers. Moshe received the law, but as Shaul said, they are the givers of the law, the witnesses of Elohim for his glory and his power.

"You are my witnesses," says YAH, "With my servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he. Before me there was no Elohim formed, neither will there be after me. I myself am YAH; and besides me there is no savior. I have declared, I have saved, and I have shown; and there was no strange elohim among you. Therefore you are my witnesses," says YAH, "and I am Elohim. Yes, since the day was I am he; and there is no one who can deliver out of my hand. I will work, and who can hinder it?" Thus says YAH, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Yisra'el: "For your sake, I have sent to Bavel, and I will bring all of them down as fugitives, even the Kasdim, in the ships of their rejoicing. I am YAH, your Holy One, the Creator of Yisra'el, your King." Thus says YAH, who makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; who brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the mighty man (they lie down together, they shall not rise; they are extinct, they are quenched like a wick): "Don't remember the former things, and don't consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs forth now. Don't you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. The animals of the field shall honor me, the jackals and the ostriches; because I give water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people which I formed for myself, that they might set forth my praise. Yet you have not called on me, Ya'akov; but you have been weary of me, Yisra'el. You have not brought me of your sheep for burnt offerings; neither have you honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor wearied you with frankincense. You have bought me no sweet cane with money, nor have you filled me with the fat of your sacrifices; but you have burdened me with your sins. You have wearied me with your iniquities. I, even I, AM HE WHO BLOTS OUT YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Put me in remembrance. LET US PLEAD TOGETHER. SET FORTH YOUR CASE, THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED. Your first father sinned, and your teachers have transgressed against me. Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; and I will make Ya'akov a curse, and Yisra'el a reviling." (Isaiah 43:10-28 RNWEB)

It's YAH who blots out our transgressions and this occurs when we follow the process of purification [baptism]. How does the father receive the glory in this process? When it is done in the name of YAHshua the Anointed, which glorifies YAH as our salvation.

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins, (Hebrews 10:26 RNWEB)

If we sin willfully after we come into the knowledge of truth and have been purified in the name of Yahshua, there remains no more sacrifice. At our purification all our past sins are blotted out once and for all, and we start with a brand new book of remembrance from that point on. The documentation of all our deeds starts over. According to Christendom it's all about faith and grace now, there is no law, however if there is no law how can there still be sin? If there is no law why would Shaul have written this? Lets see what sin is and how we sin.

Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness. (1 John 3:4 RNWEB)

If we commit sin were transgressing the law, and sin is lawlessness, or the breaking of the law. Consequently, if we can still transgress the law how has the law passed away? The only law found in scripture is in the first five books of the bible. In other words, if we agree on the fact we can still sin today, then were also agreeing the law is not done away with, for it's impossible to sin without the law.

The second book is the book of remembrance and now lets look at the third book.

Book of Life

"To the angel of the assembly in Ephesus write: "He who holds the seven stars in his right hand, he who walks among the seven golden menorot says these things: "I know your works, and your toil and perseverance, and that you can't tolerate evil men, and have tested those who call themselves emissaries, and they are not, and found them false. You have perseverance and have endured for my name's sake, and have not grown weary. BUT I HAVE THIS AGAINST YOU, THAT YOU LEFT YOUR FIRST LOVE. (Revelation 2:1-4 RNWEB)

The first and greatest commandment of the law states that we shall love YAH with our whole heart and being!

Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your menorah out of its place, unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. (Revelation 2:5-6 RNWEB)

Our first works are to serve YAH, as scripture says, seek ye first the kingdom of YAH! The Nicolaitans were one of the first Christian groups that rose up in the first century, during the time of Shaul and John, they were Gnostics that took the Hebrew culture and combined it with Zoroastrianism, Babylonian mysticism and other beliefs. At that time they were running throughout Asia minor and Greece, today this group now occupies every country on the earth with varying degrees of the same theology. YAH said we should rightly hate their beliefs, however our main focus should be on him first.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of my Elohim. "To the angel of the assembly in Smyrna write: "The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life says these things: "I know your works, oppression, and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Hasatan. Don't be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. BE FAITHFUL TO DEATH, AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE CROWN OF LIFE. (Revelation 2:7-10 RNWEB)

This was specifically for the time it was written, it's not saying were going to be thrown in jail by the devil. This book was written to a specific assembly two thousand years ago, and it cannot be wholly applied to us, just as it couldn't be applied to another assembly that existed at the same time back then. However, "if we are faithful until death" can be applied universally, because this is an understanding that's taught through all the books of the prophets.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes won't be harmed by the second death. (Revelation 2:11 RNWEB)
But we don't want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Yahshua died and rose again, even so Elohim will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Yahshua. For this we tell you by the word of the Master, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Master, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Master himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the chief angel, and with Elohim's trumpet. The dead in the Anointed will rise first, (1 Thessalonians 4:13-16 RNWEB)

Why don't we see these people going through Judgment? It's because they are the dead in the Anointed Yahshua, all their iniquity was washed away at their purification, that's why they are called the dead in the Anointed, but remember when we think about judgment, we think about standing before the throne and being judged, those that have done lawfully will receive eternal life and those who have been unlawful the second death. These people are not standing before a throne, at the return of Yahshua they will rise out of the ground with a new body.

then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Master in the air. So we will be with the Master forever. Therefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 RNWEB)
I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. He seized the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Hasatan, who deceives the whole inhabited earth, and bound him for a thousand years, and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were finished. After this, he must be freed for a short time. I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Yahshua, and for the word of Elohim, and such as didn't worship the beast nor his image, and didn't receive the mark on their forehead and on their hand. They lived, and reigned with Messiah for the thousand years. The rest of the dead didn't live until the thousand years were finished. THIS IS THE FIRST RESURRECTION. BLESSED AND HOLY IS HE WHO HAS PART IN THE FIRST RESURRECTION. OVER THESE, THE SECOND DEATH HAS NO POWER, BUT THEY WILL BE PRIESTS OF ELOHIM AND OF MESSIAH, AND WILL REIGN WITH HIM ONE THOUSAND YEARS. (Revelation 20:1-6 RNWEB)

The dead in the anointed will become judges, those who sit on seats of authority. The 144000 which Shaul is talking about when he says "we shall be caught up with them and meet them in the air and shall not precede the dead in the anointed," they shall also have seats of authority. Their responsibility will be to govern over the entire earth during the 1000 year millennial reign, the Theocratic Kingdom that Yahshua will usher in at his return.

The next verse was proceeded by Yisrael having a party and worshipping golden idols that they made while Moshe was on the mountain.

Yet now, if you will, forgive their sin--and if not, please blot me out of your book which you have written." YAH said to Moshe, "Whoever has sinned against me, him will I BLOT OUT OF MY BOOK. (Exodus 32:32-33 RNWEB)

So, why is Moshe willing to be blotted out of the book for Yisrael's sin? Jacob said, "desire not to be teachers least you know you shall receive a greater condemnation", this is because it was their responsibility to teach the people how to serve Elohim in an uncompromising fashion. Consequently, Moshe was saying it was his fault the people were like this, and he should be held accountable. However, YAH said those who have sinned against me, them shall I blot out of my book. YAH was not going to blot someone out of his book for what someone else chose to do.

The book they are being blotted out of cannot be the book of the law, and since it's a punishment, it cannot be the book of remembrance, this is referring to the Book of Life.

Charge them with crime upon crime. Don't let them come into your righteousness. (Psalms 69:27 RNWEB)
Yes, I beg you also, true yokefellow, help these women, for they labored with me in the Good News, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, WHOSE NAMES ARE IN THE BOOK OF LIFE. (Philippians 4:3 RNWEB)
"At that time shall Mikha'el stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone WHO SHALL BE FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK. (Daniel 12:1 RNWEB)
A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousands of thousands ministered to him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: THE JUDGMENT WAS SET, AND THE BOOKS WERE OPENED. (Daniel 7:10 RNWEB)

The courts in session and the books were opened, the book of the law, book of remembrance, and the book of life. The laws are what we're judged by, the book of remembrance is what we are being held accountable for, and the book of life is where our name goes if were judged as being righteous. The book of the law and book of remembrance are the two that bear witness, for, or against us.

I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them. I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and THEY OPENED BOOKS. ANOTHER BOOK WAS OPENED, WHICH IS THE BOOK OF LIFE. THE DEAD WERE JUDGED OUT OF THE THINGS WHICH WERE WRITTEN IN THE BOOKS, ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS. (Revelation 20:11-12 RNWEB)

This is the great white throne judgement, known as judgement day. This is the day we receive the verdict, since the law, the book of remembrance, and our works have already bore witness, so we have already been judged. The only question is, will we receive eternal life or the second death.

The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and grave gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works. Death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. IF ANYONE WAS NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE, he was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:13-15 RNWEB)

We have the book of the law, which is a witness against us. We have the book of remembrance, which is where our words and works are documented, and as Jeremiah said they testify against us. Our works are already being judged today, this is how Elohim determines who will take part in the first resurrection, without us having to stand before the great white throne. If we're in the first resurrection we're guaranteed eternal life, however in the second resurrection we will either receive eternal life or partake of the second and final death.

I, YAH, have spoken it: it shall happen, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; ACCORDING TO YOUR WAYS, AND ACCORDING TO YOUR DOINGS, SHALL THEY JUDGE YOU, says YAH Elohim. (Ezekiel 24:14 RNWEB)

As Jeremiah said, our iniquities testify against us! Moshe said I have told you what YAH requires and expects of you, I will now take the book of the law and the book of the covenant and place them in the Ark to be a witness against you.

For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it isn't the hearers of the law who are righteous before Elohim, but the doers of the law will be justified (Romans 2:12-13 RNWEB)

Summing Up

We have answered the question of how our eternity will be determined, will it be spent in eternal life or in final death. According to Jeremiah 2:17 and 4:4-18, we bring damnation on ourselves because of lawlessness and how we live are lives. There are three books that will measure us on this day, The book of the law, the book of remembrance, and the book of life. In reality it will be the day we receive the verdict rather than judgement, because the works we perform during are lives have already pre-determine what judgement will receive. This is based on whether we lived are lives according to the law and the mandates of Elohim, or the ways of those living unrighteously.
