The Word of Elohim

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. (John 1:1 RNEB)

The purpose of this study is to examine contextually what the word of Elohim represents. There are many that claim to be following the word of Elohim without realizing there often putting themselves at odds with Elohim’s word. We will be answering the following questions as we approach this topic.

  • What is the word of Elohim?
  • Who has the word of Elohim?
  • How do we obey the word of Elohim?
  • What did Yahshua teach about the word of Elohim?

First we need to define the term Elohim as it relates to God, which is what most translations use instead of Elohim. The meaning of God according to Strong’s concordance #0430 it’s equated to Elohim with plural, plural intensive or singular meaning.

God is a Teutonic (ancient Germanic) title, which is not the term we should be partial to because it holds the meaning of superhuman, and was used almost exclusively among the Greeks, Romans, Babylonians, and many other pagan cultures. Primarily, because their deities were once men that died and became as the term denotes, “super human”, attaining godhood. The Father, YAH is not human in any way, and it does him dishonor to be addressed as such. Elohim is the proper title and can be used for rulers, judges, divine ones, angels, gods, god like one, and the one and only Almighty Elohim.

In the Hebraic culture, every leader or man who is of great authority is called Baal, Adon, Lord or Master. The title that is accredited to them by reason of their power is El or Elohim (Mighty One’s) especially to those who were involved in teaching Elohim’s word, such as the Sadducees, Pharisees, Scribes and later the Rabbinical Society.

  1. Genesis 36:38 Baal-hanan – Lord Hanan
  2. Exodus 14:2 Baal-zephon – Lord Zephon
  3. Numbers 25:3 Baal-peor – Lord Peor
  4. Joshua 10:1 Adoni-zedek – Lord Zedek
  5. Judges 1:5 Adoni-bezek in Bezek – Lord Bezek
  6. Exodus 7:1 Moshe Elohim (God) to Pharaoh
  7. Isaiah 9:6 Yahshua El Gibor (Mighty God)

We will use the term “Elohim” exclusively to refer to the Father, YAH.

In Christianity there are numerous denominations claiming to be teaching and following the word of Elohim, making up over 1,500 different ways to worship the Father. We should be asking ourselves the following questions.

  • How can this be?
  • Wasn’t there only one word given?
  • Which one is right, if any?

Many religious leaders claim to teach the word of Elohim, however under close detailed inspection, we find that the word they teach contains only fragments of his word. The overwhelming majority of their doctrine is based on traditions, misinterpretations, theories, experiences, philosophies, and vain deceit.

These questions will be crucial to our salvation, and must be properly addressed in order for us to obediently live are lives in the way YAH has instructed us. The word of Elohim gives us understanding of who the Father is, his likes, dislikes, personality, and most importantly, his requirement for salvation. In order to wade through the many variations of the word, we need to first establish what the word is. We will take a purely scriptural approach so that we can read what the word is for ourselves, without confusion or intervention from man.

for Elohim is not a Elohim of confusion, but of peace. As in all the assemblies of the holy ones, (1 Corinthians 14:33 RNEB)

It’s important we read and study the scriptures very carefully, if we pay close attention will start to gain an understanding of Elohim’s word without human interpretation or vain philosophical rhetoric, which will only bring confusion and lead us further from the truth rather than bringing edification and glorifying the Father.

Yahshua, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Yarden, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. Afterward, when they were completed, he was hungry. The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of Elohim, command this stone to become bread.” Yahshua answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of Elohim.'” (Luke 4:1-4 RNEB)

Satan is tempting Yahshua and telling him to turn stones into bread. Yahshua was quoting from Deuteronomy when he said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of Elohim”.

He humbled you, and allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know; that he might make you know that MAN DOES NOT LIVE BY BREAD ONLY, BUT BY EVERYTHING THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF YAH DOES MAN LIVE. (Deuteronomy 8:3 RNEB)

What is the word of Elohim that we must live by? Follow along as we continue to present more on the word according to scripture.

Now it happened, while the multitude pressed on him and heard the word of Elohim, that he was standing by the lake of Ginosar. (Luke 5:1 RNEB)

What is the word of Elohim that they came to hear? Was Yahshua teaching the word as it had been taught in the Old Testament, or was he about to teach an entirely new doctrine?

Then the Pharisees, and some of the scribes gathered together to him, having come from Yerushalayim. Now when they saw some of his disciples eating bread with defiled, that is, unwashed, hands, they found fault. (For the Pharisees, and all the Hebrews, don’t eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders. They don’t eat when they come from the marketplace, unless they bathe themselves, and there are many other things, which they have received to hold to: washings of cups, pitchers, bronze vessels, and couches.) The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why don’t your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?” He answered them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. But in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ “For you set aside the commandment of Elohim, and hold tightly to the tradition of men–the washing of pitchers and cups, and you do many other such things.” He said to them, “Full well do you reject the commandment of Elohim, that you may keep your tradition. For Moshe said, ‘Honor your father and your mother;’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is korban, that is to say, given to Elohim;”‘ then you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother, making void the word of Elohim by your tradition, which you have handed down. You do many things like this.” (Mark 7:1-13 RNEB)

The word of Elohim is the Ordinances that were given to Moshe on Mt. Sinai, called the Laws. Yahshua is explaining to the religious leaders that because of their traditions and their amendments to the laws (Torah), they are in transgression of the law. This was because they had judged people by traditions that were not consistent with the Laws of Elohim. There is nothing written in the books of the law (Genesis – Deuteronomy), that states a man must wash his hands before he eats. However, there is a law that says a child is to honor his mother and father. The Pharisees obviously amended this law which placed them in direct opposition to the word of Elohim. Many religious leaders also teach doctrines, traditions, and customs, which are in direct opposition to the Laws of Elohim. Currently almost 70% of the worlds population celebrates pagan holidays instead of YAH’s Holy Days? Christianity teaches that the Sabbath day was changed to Sunday and Yahshua came and taught a new doctrine, but we know that this is not true. Yahshua himself said,

“Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise. (John 5:19 RNEB)
“Don’t think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the Torah, until all things are accomplished. Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew 5:17-19 RNEB)

Yahshua taught the same doctrine that the Father sanctioned, as well as the oracles which the prophets and apostles gave testimony to, which is obedience to the observance of the commandments of Elohim.

But when it was now the midst of the feast, Yahshua went up into the temple and taught. The Hebrews therefore marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?” Yahshua therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from Elohim, or if I am speaking from myself. (John 7:14-17 RNEB)

Yahshua said that the words he spoke, and the doctrine he taught was not his but the Fathers. We established already that many came to hear the word of Elohim from him, so what word did he teach? It was the same word that all the Prophets gave, which was:

  • To hear the word of Elohim.
  • Receive the word.
  • Keep the word.
  • Repent!

When Yahshua walked the earth he spoke only of keeping the Fathers commandments and doing his will in order to receive eternal life.

As they served YAH and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Separate Barnabas and Sha’ul for me, for the work to which I have called them.” Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia. From there they sailed to Cyprus. When they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of Elohim in the Jewish synagogues. They had also Yochanan as their attendant. (Acts 13:2-5 RNEB)

Shaul and Barnabas went into the synagogues and taught the word of Elohim, it doesn’t say that they taught the word of Jesus. The scripture states they preached the word of Elohim, which means they taught the word of Elohim to the Hebrews and gave testimony about the Anointed’s coming as written in the books of the prophets and the law.

After the reading of the Torah and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak.” Sha’ul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, “Men of Yisra’el, and you who fear Elohim, listen. The Elohim of this people chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they stayed as aliens in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm, he led them out of it. For a period of about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness. When he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Kena`an, he gave them their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred fifty years. After these things he gave them judges until Shemu’el the prophet. Afterward they asked for a king, and Elohim gave to them Sha’ul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Binyamin, for forty years. When he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, to whom he also testified, ‘I have found David the son of Yishai, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ From this man’s seed, Elohim has brought salvation to Yisra’el according to his promise, before his coming, when Yochanan had first preached the immersion of repentance to Yisra’el. As Yochanan was fulfilling his course, he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. But behold, one comes after me the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’ Brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear Elohim, the word of this salvation is sent out to you. For those who dwell in Yerushalayim, and their rulers, because they didn’t know him, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him. Though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to have him killed. When they had fulfilled all things that were written about him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb. But Elohim raised him from the dead, and he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from the Galil to Yerushalayim, who are his witnesses to the people. We bring you good news of the promise made to the fathers, that Elohim has fulfilled the same to us, their children, in that he raised up Yahshua. As it is also written in the second psalm, ‘You are my Son. Today I have become your father.’ “Concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’ Therefore he says also in another psalm, ‘You will not allow your Holy One to see decay.’ For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of Elohim, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw decay. But he whom Elohim raised up saw no decay. Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins, and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the Torah of Moshe. Beware therefore, lest that come on you which is spoken in the prophets: ‘Behold, you scoffers, and wonder, and perish; for I work a work in your days, a work which you will in no way believe, if one declares it to you.'” So when the Hebrews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Hebrews and of the devout proselytes followed Sha’ul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of Elohim. The next Sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of Elohim. (Acts 13:15-44 RNEB)

Shaul started expounding the word by restating the prophecies pertaining to Yahshua to all the Hebrews and those who feared Elohim. If you closely follow the scriptures, Shaul recaps the events leading to the Anointed, starting from the book of Exodus, then Samuel, Kings, and finally John. This is what is called the word of Elohim. Shaul’s purpose was to minister to the Hebrews from what they had already received over the last 1500 years. When the next Sabbath came nearly the entire city came out to hear Shaul teach the word of Elohim. He was giving them the word of Elohim by reading the books of Psalms and Isaiah, which gives great detail on the Anointed’s coming and his crucifixion. Shaul’s intentions were to get the people to stop sacrificing animals and to accept Yahshua the Anointed as their propitiation offering through water purification as it was prophesied in the old testament. Shaul was reading from the old testament rather than the new testament because the letters and historical events that make up the new testament had not yet been written, and wouldn’t be compiled for another 300 years! The new testament teaching was just the apostles explaining old testament laws and prophecies and documenting historical events of the time.

Lets examine how one can tell who has the word of Elohim by revisiting the book of Luke and pick up where Yahshua is explaining the meaning of the parable of the sower.

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of Elohim. Those along the road are those who hear, then the devil comes, and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. (Luke 8:11-12 RNEB)

Yahshua likens the word of Elohim to a seed, then describes those along the road, which represent the people who hear the word but have not been convicted whole heartedly to do the word. Their lack of conviction to do the Fathers word {Laws & Commandments}, opens them up to temptation by the adversary.

Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root, who believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation. (Luke 8:13 RNEB)

This represents those who receive the word with joy because it’s something new, different to their ears and has the appearances of righteousness and holiness. Even so, they have not been fully convicted by the word, and therefore are led away from the word by the temptations of the flesh.

That which fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. (Luke 8:14 RNEB)

This represents those who have heard the word and understand it. However, they have not been fully convicted and have decided not to submit themselves to the word, since their concerns are centered in the world rather than for their creator.

These individuals go into the world without the armor of righteousness and the shield of faith. They have not received the sword of the spirit, and are entangled in the cares of this world, {Politics, Holidays, Lusts, Vanities, Economics, Material pride, possessions, Pagan Family influences, and Idol worship}.

We can avoid being led away from the word of Elohim by the temptations of the flesh if we give the word are full attention.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the spoken word of Elohim; (Ephesians 6:17 RNEB)
My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. (Proverbs 4:20-23 RNEB)
He taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words. Keep my commandments, and live. (Proverbs 4:4 RNEB)
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16 RNEB)

From these verses we can see that were required to keep the word of Elohim to receive Life and Salvation! When we continually study, meditate, and practice the word, we will walk in the spirit, and have the armor necessary to resist the flesh. The words of Elohim can only be found in the books of the law, which are the books of Genesis through Deuteronomy.

That in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and bring forth fruit with patience. (Luke 8:15 RNEB)

Those with an honest and good heart hear the word, keep it, and show their subjection by performing good works. This means that we can’t hear that the Sabbath is on the seventh day, Saturday, but still choose to worship on Sunday. We can’t hear that the laws of Elohim have not been done away with and still choose to ignore them. Once we hear the word of Elohim we have to make a choice, will we observe the traditions of men, or keep the words of Elohim in truth and righteousness?

For there is no partiality with Elohim. For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it isn’t the hearers of the law who are righteous before Elohim, but the doers of the law will be justified (Romans 2:11-13 RNEB)

Elohim shows no favoritism, if man sins without keeping the law, the word of Elohim, he will perish without the law. Elohim’s law is merciful and righteous, and man will be judged by the dictates of the law which holds us accountable for our sins in accordance to the level of our understanding. Therefore, man will receive his punishment by the law if he walks in the law. This is why Shaul said, “as many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law”. However, those who hear but choose not to acknowledge the laws and commandments of Elohim will receive the judgment of death. This is what Shaul means when he says, “For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without the law”. We are all sinners, and it’s better to be judged by the Law which is merciful and righteous than to be sentenced to death because we chose not to acknowledge the laws of Elohim. Shaul said that the hearers of the law are not considered before Elohim, but those who do the law shall be considered by Elohim.

Yahshua said in the parable of the sower, that in the good ground are they which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, KEEP IT, and bring forth fruit with patience. It will not be enough for us to just hear the word, we must also keep the word and walk in it, this is the only way we can walk in the spirit.

Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect Torah (law) of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. (James 1:21-25 RNEB)

James is reiterating what Shaul said. We must be a doer of the word and not just a hearer. We hear many things everyday, but if we truly received, comprehended, and understood what the word was saying it would result in a response or action, some type of corresponding work, which is ultimately what will be judged by. This is why the scripture constantly states to do the word.

The perfect law of liberty James was referring entails:

  • Practicing the laws of Elohim,
  • Having the testimony of Yahshua the Anointed.
  • Abounding in the liberties and freedom found in Elohim’s laws.

Notice what James said about continuing in it, and being a doer of the work.

  • What must we continue in?
  • What work must we do?

We must be obedient to the laws of Elohim and the faith of Yahshua the Anointed. If keeping the commandments of Elohim are no longer required by man to receive salvation, why are the individuals who keep them Satan’s number one enemy?

The dragon grew angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, WHO KEEP ELOHIM’S COMMANDMENTS AND HOLD YAHSHUA’S TESTIMONY. (Revelation 12:17 RNEB)
Here is the patience of the holy ones, those who keep the commandments of Elohim, and the faith of Yahshua.” (Revelation 14:12 RNEB)

The commandments must be kept and man must have the testimony of Yahshua the Anointed through water purification in his Saving name. The Word that we must do are the oracles (infallible authority) of Elohim in righteousness. All men have been instructed to study the word of Elohim, which not only gives testimony of the coming of the Anointed, but also tells us how he can receive eternal life.

For we are not as so many, peddling the word of Elohim. But as of sincerity, but as of Elohim, in the sight of Elohim, we speak in the Anointed. (2 Corinthians 2:17 RNEB)

We can’t be as the masses of the world following the traditions of men. We must follow the words of our creator as it’s written in the Holy Scriptures. Shaul said that we are not like everyone else who corrupts the word of Elohim. The word becomes corrupt when it’s not taught in its purest form, and when things are added to it that are not written.

You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish from it, that you may keep the commandments of YAH your Elohim which I command you. (Deuteronomy 4:2 RNEB)
Whatever thing I command you, that shall you observe to do: you shall not add thereto, nor diminish from it. (Deuteronomy 12:32 RNEB)
I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if anyone adds to them, may Elohim add to him the plagues which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:18 RNEB)

Once we become knowledgeable in the scriptures will be able to distinguish the difference between what man has added and taken away from the word of Elohim, which may ultimately be damaging to our salvation. Now that we have come this far we need to ask ourselves the following questions:

  • Do we know the word of Elohim?
  • Have we been taught the word of Elohim?
  • Is the word of Elohim the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow?

If we are observing the Laws of Righteousness and Holiness, then we’re observing the word of Elohim. If we’re not observing these laws, we don’t know or have not been convicted by the word of Elohim. We have proven through the scriptures that the word is the laws, precepts, and commandments, which were a gift from Elohim that have been provided to instruct and guide us in the ways he has commanded us to live. YAH has laid down a divine order which is holy and righteous, but mankind has deviated to establish his own righteousness.

He answered them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. (Mark 7:6-9 RNEB)

Summing Up

There are five Key Points to remember.

  1. The Word that existed and was established from the beginning is YAH’s Plan of Salvation.
  2. The word of Elohim has not changed. The Prophets and the Law both speak to the prerequisites and the establishment of the path of righteousness through the word of Elohim and the testimony of Yahshua.
  3. Man, out of his own pride and arrogance has created his own word in order to accommodate the carnal lusts of the flesh – greed, power, authority and self righteousness.
  4. Yahshua did not bring a new Word. He came in the name and spirit of his Father to clarify and do away with the amendments and traditions of men, which had defiled the word of Elohim.
  5. Man has to work out his own salvation and ensure that he’s following the doctrine of truth (the word of Elohim), or else he ‘s on a journey of utter destruction.

Closing Comments

One very important factor in this study is that if we add or take away from scripture we are defiling the word of Elohim. Haven’t many religious leaders already done this?

There are ten commandments for us to observe, which are the highlights of over 400 sub-commandments and laws. However, we are told that we no longer have to keep the Sabbath holy and honor it, but we should not kill, covet, or commit adultery because it breaks the commandments. The same tablets which contained, honor your mother and father, you shall not kill, and you shall not covet, also said remember the Sabbath day (the 7th day), to keep it holy. The word that we have been taught from Christendom is to disregard the Sabbath, and remember Sunday as a holy convocation instead. Where in the Bible was the Sabbath ever changed?

Therefore the Son of Man is master even of the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:28 RNEB)
Sha’ul, as was his custom, went in to them, and for three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures, (Acts 17:2 RNEB)

The Sabbath day is just one of many commandments that we have been falsely told we no longer have to obey, but scripture proves otherwise. This is a very good example of man corrupting the word of Elohim, which is in direct opposition to Elohim’s commandments. At this time many in Christianity are trying to justify and explain why the commandments (Laws) no longer apply today. They do this by taking scripture out of its overall context and by ultra spiritualizing it.

Many have been told Christianity is built on the founding doctrines of the Anointed and the apostles, but a study of history shows that it was birth in the early second century and received world acceptance with Constantine in the early fourth century. Christianity was Constantine’s way of bringing his kingdom together under one religion. It was designed to indoctrinate all pagan celebrations (holidays) under one roof and establish a Catholic church. Catholic means universal, broad-based, liberal, all-encompassing, all-embracing. One of the first acts of Constantine was to outlaw all the appointed times Elohim set forth in scripture and replace them with days of worship of false gods.

How can a religion whose foundations are corrupt teach the truth?
